Mainline Defect Controller - Secondment for up to 9 months

This is a wide ranging role, providing both technical expertise and team leadership. The MDC role will be responsible for primary defect management, including, defect troubleshooting, defect diagnosis, work scope creation and defect rectification, as well as leading a team of between five to ten engineering staff. Report directing to the SPM, the MDC will manage a team, covering all depot engineering activities, including exams, defects rectification, modifications and repair. 

Key tasks will include technical expertise and defect management, leading and motivating a team of staff to ensure that they work together safely and effectively to the required standards and specifications. Co-ordinating the effective deployment of staff to ensure production deadlines and targets are met.

The experience you’ll need

To be considered for the role you will need to demonstrate the below in your application.

  • 5 years experience of Engineering
  • NVQ level 3 in Rail Engineering, 
  • Core Management and Leadership training, 
  • Intermediate IT skills (Excel, word etc), 
  • Accredited with certificate in Engineering (BTEC/ONC) or equivalent.

Given the start and end times of shifts, it’s also best to have your own transport to get to and from your place of work.
