On Board Manager Instructor - Ramsgate
Role Responsibility
You will play an integral role in the onboarding experience for our new colleagues as they transition from training school to operational duties. Welcoming them into the team, you’ll share your knowledge, experience, and expertise to help them confidently apply what they’ve learned in a real working environment.
As an On Board Manager Instructor, you will be responsible for guiding new recruits through the key elements of the OBM role, ensuring they fully understand their responsibilities and are well-prepared for assessment. Your support will be crucial in building their skills and confidence as they work towards achieving competence and sign-off.
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
Established experience as an On Board Manager — you must be fully competent in the role, with a minimum of one year’s experience and successful completion of your apprenticeship.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written — able to communicate clearly, professionally, and articulately with colleagues, trainees, and customers.
Strong administrative skills — capable of producing accurate records and clear, professional reports.
Lead by example — consistently maintain a high standard of personal appearance, wearing a clean, presentable uniform with a name badge, and demonstrating professional, customer-focused conduct at all times.
Good decision-making skills — able to work on your own initiative and make appropriate, timely decisions in operational situations.
Customer-focused approach — with a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and positive feedback from customers and colleagues.
Clean operational record — no operational incidents on file, in accordance with current competency standards.
Strong interpersonal skills — able to competently and confidently support trainee OBMs, handling their questions and concerns with clarity and patience.
Commercial awareness — experience of positively representing the business and contributing to its customer service and revenue objectives.
Coaching or training experience is desirable, along with any relevant qualifications — though not essential.
Level 2 Passenger Transport Qualification for Station and On Board Staff is required.
