Service Engineer Level 3 - Hoist Team Leader

This is a wide-ranging role that includes providing shop floor leadership, undertaking rolling stock modifications, heavy overhaul and maintenance work packages and bespoke workstreams.

The role will be part of a team responsible for undertaking asset life cycle work streams and franchise commitments, providing technical expertise and leading and motivating a team of shop floor staff.

Key tasks will include: providing technical expertise, defect, overhaul and modification management; carrying out unit modification trials, through to first in class and delivery of projects and work packages; co-ordinating the effective deployment of staff to ensure project deadlines and targets are met.

Responsible for carrying out work packages, repairs, examination work and fault finding, always working safely and effectively within the team, to all required standards and specifications.

What you’ll do

  • Comply with safety systems, standards and procedures.
  • Carry out mechanical inspection and gauging, electro-mechanical testing, examinations, repairs and routine maintenance to specifications.
  • Carry out component changes / heavy lift as required.
  • Responsible for carrying out failure mode component testing of faulty or suspect electronic hardware.  
  • Fault finding and diagnosis, including investigation into repeat failures.
  • Provide post-incident and return to service testing service, brakes, doors, WSP and Traction.

The experience you’ll need

  • Input appropriate data to IT systems.
  • Promote best practice procedures for the team and production.
  • Prioritise and manage own workload and those of others when required, liaising with other departments, as necessary.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the Engineering Management System (EMS) and able to open, close and create job cards as necessary within the system.
