Suicide Reduction Ambassadors (Volunteering Opportunities)

Job Introduction

We are seeking colleagues to become volunteer Suicide Reduction Ambassadors across the network

Southeastern’s Safeguarding Team is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all our people and passengers. Our mission is to help make sure everyone gets home safe every day. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

We are seeking influential volunteers to join our mission and support our suicide reduction work across the network alongside their current roles. If you have an interest or background in suicide reduction and/or mental health awareness raising then this could be the role for you.

Become a Suicide Reduction Ambassador and play a crucial role in our safeguarding team. If you are dedicated, empathetic, and eager to make a difference, we encourage you to apply. This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a team dedicated to the well-being of vulnerable people that use our network and to support colleagues in dealing with concerns for welfare.

Help us ensure everyone gets home safe every day by becoming a champion for suicide reduction in our community.

The role of a volunteer Suicide Reduction Ambassador includes:

  • Raising Awareness: Promoting reporting through the EIS App and champion the use of Op Safer and Body Work Video among peers.
  • Engagement and Support: Attending locations post incident to support colleagues and support the safeguarding team with site visits. Engage with the Samaritans and support campaigns across the network focused on suicide reduction.
  • Education and Training: Supporting the Trespass and Suicide Reduction Manager in the promotion and delivery of the Samaritans Managing Suicidal Contacts training course.
  • Outreach Participation: Working with local charities and mental health support services in the community to support Southeastern’s Suicide Reduction work.
  • Event Participation: Support and participate in Safeguarding outreach events to raise awareness of suicide reduction at our stations and onboard our trains.

This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community by supporting those in need, and connect with like-minded individuals and local council outreach services.

Comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfil the role requirements.
